Entered BSU in fall 1942 and played football; served as a pilot in US Army Air Corps 1943-1946; re-entered BSU in fall 1946 and played football; retired from RHS after 36 years of teaching and coaching.

Coaching Experience: Head 9th grade football coach at Dennis junior HS, Richmond, 1949-1956; became varisty line coach at Richmond HS 1956, then promoted to defensive coordinator 1957-1978; also served as head baseball coach.
Coaching Honors: Dennis team won city championship 3 times; as defensive coordinator at RHS, team won 12 North Central Conference championships and were mythical state champions 1956 and 1957; 1967 team gave up only 18 points defensively all season and had 7 shut-outs; 12 of his defensive units were ranked among Indiana's top ten; 5 RHS teams were unbeaten, approximately 200 players earned college scholarships, and 6 made it to the pros during his tenure as a coach.
