During his time at Elkhart Memorial, Joe was a three-year letterman in football, basketball, and baseball.His high school career accomplishments included: serving as Captain his senior year on three teams - football, basketball and baseball; an academic all-state selection; MVP in football as a senior; all-conference first team quarterback; second team defensive back in his junior and senior seasons; named South Bend Tribune Class 4A first team quarterback; all-area first team defensive back; named the Bloomington Herald Big State First Team quarterback; held 12 passing records; second team all-conference; an all-Elkhart County basketball player as a senior; named to the Subway Shootout all-tournament team; second team all-conference third baseman as a junior and honorable mention as a senior; a two-time Kiwanis Athlete of the Month and chosen the Kiwanis Athlete of the Year as a senior; and Bringle Award Winner for the City of Elkhart.

B.S. in Communications
After high school, Joe attended DePauw University and earned a communications degree. He was a three-year letterman, where he played quarterback as a freshman and wide receiver his final three years. As a senior, he was named the Thomas Mount Offensive Player of the Year while also being selected as a first-team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference choice as he set the school single-season record for receptions with 80 (now third). Overall, in his collegiate career he amassed 153 receptions for 1,861 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ranks ninth in school history in receptions and receiving yards. Joe was also named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll his senior year.
Joe and his wife, Marie, have three children, daughters Sydney and Harper Grace and son Carson.
Joe excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, but football was his true passion. This is why he began his career with the NFL more than 20 years ago as an intern in the ticket office of the Carolina Panthers and in the team’s football operations camp, which lead him to the team’s scouting department where he began the Monday after he graduated from DePauw.Today, he serves as a Senior Vice President and General Manager for the New York Giants, a role he has held for the past three years. Joe is the Giants’ fifth general manager since 1979 and the first Giants general manager without previous ties to the franchise since George Young.Joe is thankful for the support his family members, mentors and coaches have provided him throughout his career and attributes much of his success to them.
