While at Plainfield, Bruce was a 3-sport athlete who earned 9 varsity letters and set records in both football and track. He was inducted into the Plainfield Hall of Fame in 2016.
Butler University

As a football player at Butler University, Bruce set 3 school rushing records. He was All-Conference and the Team Offensive MVP. Bruce was the recipient of the prestigious Hilton U. Brown Mental Attitude Award. Bruce was inducted into the Butler University Hall of Fame in 2007.
Bruce was the recipient of the 2017 National Football Foundation Distinguished American Award. He has authored 3 books on faith and manhood in today's world. He is the founder of Beyond the Goal Line Sports Ministry. His head coaching record is an amazing. 248-88.
