All-State QB; started and was captain of North Team in All-Star North-South Game; 18-0 as starting quarterback as junior and senior; completed 60% of passes with just 3 interceptions; passed for 20 TD's and 2,000 yards; also played basketball and baseball, earning a total of 8 varsity letters.

Set total offensive record in 1968; Honorable Mention All-Big 10 Quarterback in 1968; was a two-year starter and won three varsity letters.
Active in the Indiana Football Coaches Association, serving in leadership positions for many years and Chairman of the 5A Coaches Rating Board; co-director of IFCA Clinic for 15 years; first former player to become an All-Star Game head coach; the only coach to be a head coach of both the North and South All-Star teams.
Coaching Experience: Coached one season at Northwestern University as a graduate assistant; was an offensive coordinator at Wabash College 3 years; began a 14-year career at Highland HS as head football coach in 1975; coached undefeated squads 1978 and 1982; finished as 5A runner-up 1987; head coach at Warren Central HS, Indianapolis, for 11 years; head coach at Avon HS 8 years, with 61 wins, 3 conference championships, and runner-up in 2005 Class 5A semistate; in 33 year career, had 211 wins; retired from coaching after the 2009 season.
Coaching Honors: Was an assistant coach in 1979 and North head coach in 1983 for the North-South All-Star Football Game; South head coach in 2006.
