Named Teacher of the Year; served on planning committee for start-up of state championship play in football; served as president of Indiana Football Coaches Association 1973; served as induction chairman for the Indiana Football Hall of Fame; served as a basketball official for 25 years.

Professional Athletic Background: Played fullback for New York Giants 1948.
Coaching Experience: East Chicago Washington "B" team coach 1949-1957, then head football coach 1958-1973, with a 71-72-3 head coaching record; retired from coaching in 1973, but continued as athletic director at Washington 1967-1986.
Coaching Honors: Eight of 16 teams posted winning seasons.
Outstanding Players Coached: Ron Smith, Bears, Rams, and Falcons; Joe Blake, Saints; Tim Stoddard, White Sox, Yankees, and Padres.
