Wife, Jan; daughters, Jeanne, Jill, and Jennifer; grandchildren, Antonio, Blake, and Madison.
Coaching Experience: 2 years as varsity line coach at New Castle HS; 7 years as defensive coordinator-line coach at Columbus HS; 26 years as head football coach at Columbus East HS, with a career record of 149-115; also assistant wrestling coach at New Castle and Columbus and head wrestling coach at Columbus East when Columbus split into North and East in 1972.

Coaching Honors: Indiana Coach of the Year in 1979; Class 3A State Champions in 1979, with record of 13-0; Region 10 Coach of the Year in 1978 and 1994; won 8 Hoosier Hills Conference titles, 2 Sectionals, 1 Regional, and 1 State Championship; coached in the North-South All-Star Game twice.
