Pierce Outstanding Scholastic Senior Award, Herman Byers Outstanding Senior Athletic Award, and Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award 1977; All-State 1977; Class 3A State Championship game pass reception record held for 25 years until 2002; South All-Star Most Valuable Lineman 1978.

Member of 1979 Holiday Bowl team and scored 1st TD in Bowl history for IU; led team in receiving for 3 years; third in career receptions after 1981 season; All-American Honorable Mention 1981; All-Big 10 1981; All-Big 10 Academics 3 years; Michael J. Rabold Distinguished Student Award 1982; played in Hula and Japan Bowls 1982; selected to All-Time IU football team as TE by Chicago Tribune 1993 and by Inside Indiana Magazine.
Active in coaching youth sports and at alma mater, Evansville Reitz HS, from 1996 - 2000 and from 2008 - 2021, including a state championship in 2009.
