Began WKU on a football scholarship 1947; lettered in football 4 years; started 3 years; 2nd Team All-Ohio Valley Conference 1950; Stanley Woodward's Pre-Season Little All-American 1949; captain 1950. College career was interrupted with military service - US Army April 1951-March 1953.
Officer of Kentucky High School Coaches Association 1959; served on Executive Committee of Indiana High School Coaches Association 1974; president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association 1974; served on Board of Directors of Indiana Football Hall of Fame; was a member of the IHSAA Football Play-off Committee; member UPI Coaches Board; Chaired South All-Star selection committee several years; had articles in several publications and lectured at many clinics and banquets.

Coaching Experience: Assistant football coach at Caldwell County HS in Princeton, KY, for 3 years, winning WKC Championship 1957; head coach 2 years at Old Kentucky Home HS in Bardstown, KY, with 2nd Regional Championship in 1959 and record of 11-8-1; head coach at Tell City, IN, for 18 years with record of 124-37-9 and 9 Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Championships; also served as assistant basketball coach 8 years, head baseball coach 1 year (District Champs 1957), head track coach 6 years, and head golf coach 6 years.

Coaching Honors: Mid-Kentucky Conference Coach of the Year 1959; coached in Kentucky East-West All-Star Game in 1959 and 1960; Regional Champions in 1973 and Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Coach of the Year several times; Kodak Indiana Coach of the Year 1973; assisted coach Hub Etchison at the Indiana North-South All-Star Game in 1972; was a 20 year head coach with a record of 135-55-5 and 10 championship years.

Outstanding Players Coached: Coached 14 All-State players, 71 All-SIAC Conference players, 1 Prep All-American, 8 South All-Star players, 1 East-West All-Star (KY), and 25 players who received college scholarships.
