Played quarterback 1943-1944; was a member of National Championship team 1943.

College career interrupted with service in the Navy; was quarterback on the 1945 Great Lakes Naval Training team coached by Paul Brown that upset Notre Dame.
After retiring from football in 1962, entered private business in the RV and mobile home industry; retired in 1985.

Professional Athletic Background: Quarterback for Buffalo Bills 1946 and 1947 in All American Conference; quarterback for Cleveland Browns 1948.

Professional Athletic Honors: Bills were Eastern Division Champions 1947; Browns won 15 games in a row and were National Champions 1948.

Coaching Experience: Backfield coach at the following schools - University of South Carolina 1949-1950; Vanderbilt University 1951-1952; Marquette University 1953; University of Pennsylvania 1954-1955; and, Indiana University 1956; head coach at Saskatchewan Rough Riders of Canadian Football League 1958; backfield coach of Hamilton Tiger Cats of CFL 1957; general manager of Ottawa Rough Riders, CFL, 1959-1962.

Coaching Honors: Vanderbilt defeated 2 bowl teams and tied a third; Hamilton Tigers won Grey Cup 1957; Ottawa won Grey Cup 2 years and finished 2nd twice during his tenure.
