Fullback at Notre Dame; earned All-Western honors both years; considered the "Greatest Fullback in the West"; starred as a tackle at Princeton.
Served as athletic director at Wabash 16 years; came out of retirement in 1961, at 73, to serve 2 years as interim athletic director.
Coaching Experience: Served as football line coach and head basketball coach at Purdue University 1913-1916; assistant football coach at University of California 1916; Wabash College head football coach for 27 seasons (1919-1945) and head basketball coach 1919-1940; while at Wabash, compiled a 194-175 basketball record and a 113-84-23 gridiron record; also coached football at Camp Shelby and 38th Division for the National Guard; tenure included 1919 tour of Belgium with his team and explained game to King Leopold.

Coaching Honors: Twice in 1930's was in top 10 among all collegiate football coaches in nation; voted for positions on the College All-Star coaching staff; ranked first at Wabash in total football wins.
