Received 20-year pin as a member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association; served as principal and basketball coach at Jefferson HS in Goshen 1946-1950; in 1953, started the Quarterback Club in Nappanee and Fort Wayne; took several football teams to Camp Crosley and brought in many college coaches, such as Gaumy Neal of DePauw, Pete Vaughan of Wabash, and Bo McMillian of Indiana University to work with the teams; charter member of Ft. Wayne Officials Association, refereeing 20 sectionals and 11 regionals.
Wife, Nancy (deceased); children, Stuart, Anne, Sue, and Richard.
Coaching Experience: Coached football, baseball, and basketball at Wilkinson HS 1920-1924, with a 29-6-3 football record; coached football and track at Fort Wayne South 1924-1944, with 15 winning football seasons; football and track coach at Goshen HS 1944-1946, where he started the Goshen Relays, which has grown into one of the largest in the State; coached football and track at Nappanee HS 1950-1955; assistant football and head track coach at Niles, MI, 1955-1966 with winning records in both.
