1973 Most Valuable Player Award and Jack Douberteen Memorial Award; named to All-Northern Indiana Conference Defensive Unit; All-State Team junior and senior years; leading tackler 1972-1973 seasons; played in North-South All-Star Game 1974.

Pre-season All-American 1977; played for the legendary coach, Paul "Bear" Bryant, winning the National Championship after beating Penn State in the Sugar Bowl 1978.
Head strength and conditioning coach for University of Alabama 1986-1989; awarded Most Outstanding Coach of Year at Alabama for the 1986-1987 season; president of his company, R.A. Wingo, Inc.; was not only a standout on the football field, but also gave of his valuable time in helping others connected with the Cerebral Palsy Center in Green Bay; helped with the March of Dimes, the Red Cross, the Boys Club, Special Olympics, and Muscular Dystrophy Association; serves on Board of Directors for the Boys Club of Tuscaloosa.

Professional Athletic Background: Played for Green Bay Packers 1979-1986; was Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Most Valuable Player in his first season; elected to Pro Football Weekly and Football Digest All-Rookie Teams 1979; in 1982, was the Packer's NFL Man of the Year; still holds the record for the most unassisted tackles in one season of 151; an injury cut his professional career short.
