Has been athletic director for the past 14 years; coached all three of his sons and three grandsons; son, Kevin, is head football coach at Carmel High School, and son, Kent, is head coach at Lebanon High School.
First Wife, Jayne (Deceased); sons, Kevin, Kent, and Travis; daughters, Lana and Cheri; 5 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; second wife, Ellen.
Coaching Experience: Assistant football coach and teacher at North Miami HS 1963-1964; head football coach at Mt. Ayr HS in 1965; became head coach at Sheridan in 1965; 369-160-2 career record as a head coach, becoming Indiana's all-time winningest high school coach on October 28, 2011, in a second round sectional win over Lapel 48-16.

Coaching Honors: Head coach of North-South All-Star Game; Ball State Alumni Coach of the Year twice and Coach of the Year three times; Class A State Champions 1980, 1984, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1998, 2005, 2006, 2007; 1 State Runner-Up, 12 Sectional Titles, 8 Regional Titles, and 6 Semi-State Titles; had 19 consecutive winning seasons 1975-1994.

Outstanding Players Coached: Brad Maynard of Chicago Bears and Brett Law, a National Record Holder.
