Active member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon, elder, and trustee; member of Elks Club and active member of Maple Crest Country Club; inducted posthumously into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame 2007.
Wife, Madeline (deceased); children, Patricia (David), Jim, and Susan (Robert); numerous grandchildren.
Coaching Experience: Twenty-eight years as teacher and coach at Goshen HS; head football coach at Goshen 1942-1959; coaching record of 69-61-12; placed many players on All-Conference teams.
