Inducted into Indiana State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984, and Hammond Sports Hall of Fame in 1989; served as Morton's athletic director and PE teacher until retiring in 1987; Morton High School's football field was dedicated as Zlotnik Field August 18, 2000.
Wife, Bette (deceased 12-2-2011); daughters, Marianne (James) and Marcel (Richard); grandchildren, Johnathan, Jason, Jennifer, Cally, and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Melissa, Katherine, Benjamin, and Anna.
Coaching Experience: Freshman football coach as student assistant at ISU 1939; head coach frosh-soph football at Morton, a 2-year high school 1940-1952; head coach at Hammond 1952-1976, with a record of 114-82-8.
Coaching Honors: Indiana High School Coach of Year in 1965 with a winning record of 10-0; Indiana High School Coach of the Year in 1961 with a runner-up team that was 9-0; was addressee at National Collegiate Athletic Association's annual meeting (HS Division) at Conrad Hilton Hotel in Chicago 1962; was featured speaker at Purdue University’s Annual Spring Football Clinic; was a speaker at numerous other clinics, including the Kodak Coaching Clinic in Louisville; The Hammond Times Coach of the year 1971; teams were Lake Shore Conference Champions 1970-1972; had 15 All-State team members; retired from coaching in 1976.
