First two years at Elkhart HS, played under Coach Boone; senior year at Logansport HS as All-Conference Back; received Kiwanis Trophy; played under Coach “Tubby” Trobaugh.

All-State Football Team 1934; member of 1933 unbeaten, untied, unscored upon team under Coach “Gaumy” Neal; in track, Big State 440 yard dash winner 1935; Little State Champion in 220 and 440 yard dash 1935; invited to try out with Pittsburg Steelers 1935, but opted to attend Boston University's Theology School.
Was a Naval chaplain assigned to Marine Corps during WW II; first chaplain ashore in retaking of Philippines, October 1941; received letter of commendation from Secretary of Navy; served as pastor of Methodist Church (now United Methodist) in Indiana for 40 years, beginning as a senior at DPU; led congregation in building Richmond's North Central Methodist Church and Anderson's First United Methodist Church; served as Huntington District Superintendent in northern Indiana; served as Senior Pastor at Broadway United Methodist Church until retirement; led tours with his wife to Holy Land, Europe, Oberammergau, Scandinavia, and India; three-time delegate to world-wide General Conference of United Methodist Church.
Wife, Jane (deceased); son, Robert (deceased), and daughters, Nancy, Barbara, and Sarah; several grandchildren.
