Coaching Honors: Voted Coach of the Year in two states during his career - Ohio Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year 1972 and Indiana Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1976 and 1985; coached West All-Star Team in Cincinnati 1973; Sectional Champions 1985; coached 1990 Class 5A semi-state game with Southport; led Merrillville to Class 3A State Football Championship; coached Elder to Ohio State Championship 1972.
