4-year football letterman; received Outstanding Player Award in 1948 Refrigerator Bowl, winning 13-7; member of victorious Aces in 1949 Refrigerator Bowl, winning 20-7; captain of 1949 team; leading state scorer and selected to Ohio Valley Conference First Team in 1948; named to Indiana All-State Team 1949; Honorable Mention on Little All-American squad.
Inducted into University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame 1971; honored by Memorial High School football program for 24 years of service in 1980; inducted into Memorial High School Athletic Hall of Fame, posthumously, with the inaugural class of 2012.

Professional Athletic Background: Played in exhibition games with the Chicago Cardinals and the Philadelpia Eagles.

Coaching Experience: Head football coach at Evansville Memorial 1957-1980; assistant football coach and head basketball coach at Evansville Mater Dei 1952-1956; also served as assistant basketball coach 20 years, head track coach 18 years, and head tennis coach 7 years at Memorial; retired from coaching in 1980 with a head football coaching record of 138-87-6.

Coaching Honors: Evansville Coach of the Year 1959 and 1969; Conference Champions 1958, 1959, 1965, 1969, and 1978; City Champions 1958, 1965, 1969, and tied in 1978; honored by Indiana High School Coaches Association for 20 plus years of loyal and meritorious service in 1976.
