Merit Contributor - Official: 15 years as an official in the NFL; special assignments included 14 play-off games and 4 championships; he officiated the famous “freeze” game in 1982 involving San Diego and Cincinnati which was played with a wind chill of -69 degrees; worked the 1988 play-off "FOG" game between Bears and Eagles, and the 1983 Super Bowl XVII between the Redskins and Dolphins; basketball referee serving Big Ten and Mid American Conference for 20 years, working the NCAA tourney each year.
