Bernard Pollard lettered in football, basketball and track at Southside High School in Fort Wayne. He was selected as the Fort Wayne News Sentinal's football player of the year in 2001. His #10 jersey was the first in Southside history to be retired. Pollard attended Purdue University and played 3 seasons for Coach Joe Tiller. He was a 2nd team Freshman All-American after recording 66 tackles his inaugral season in West Lafayette. As a sophomore, Pollard lead the team in tackles (96) his sophomore year. That year, Pollard also has 1 interception, 2 blocked punts, 1 blocked extra point, and 1 blocked field goal. His 3rd and final year at Purdue, Pollard recorded 92 tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 pass defenses, and 1 blocked punt. Pollard was drafted in the 2nd round by the Kansas City Chiefs. In his rookie year, Pollard blocked 3 punts and was an NFL All-Rookie team selection. Pollard spent 9 seasons in the NFL with Kansas City, Houston, Baltimore, and Tennessee before retiring in 2009. Pollard was the leading tackler for the Baltimore Ravens during their Super Bowl winning 2012-13 season. During his NFL career, Pollard played 126 games. He recorded 550 solo tackles, 161 assists, 10.5 sacks, 12 interceptios, 51 pass defenses.
Bernard and his wife Meghan, have two children, Jaylen and Alonna.
