Founded the Evansville City Golf Tournament and played in it for 38 consecutive years, with a scholarship given in his name beginning in 1965; President of the Indiana Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association 1952; honored with the Joe Bolan Memorial Award 1971; received the Silver Medallion from IHSAA 1976; inducted into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions as a sportswriter 1976; inducted into University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame 1979; inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame, posthumously, in 1995.
